Clovis Forklift Parts - Clovis (population 37,775) is a city in the eastern part of New Mexico State, in the US. It serves as the county seat of Curry County. It is the major city within the Clovis Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The city of Clovis is an agricultural community situated on the mesa called Llano Estacado, in the eastern part of New Mexico. Cannon Air Force Base is situated there. The city is also noted for its part during early rock music history.

During prehistoric times, the peoples of the Clovis culture inhabited the eastern New Mexico region. Several anthropologically significant remains have been found at the Blackwater Draw site situated south of the city, near Portales. Tourists are welcome to visit this historical location.

The community of Clovis dates back to the year 1906, when railway engineers working for the Santa Fe Railroad chose the location as a town site and called it Riley's Switch. The daughter of the station master renamed it Clovis after the very first Catholic king of the Franks.

Ranching and agriculture has dominated the whole east-central New Mexico and west Texas regions. The main industries within the area are peanut production, cotton farming and cattle ranching. The Clovis area has a number of processing plants for agricultural products, such as the Southwest Cheese Company plant which processes milk from local dairies. Located between Portales and Clovis, the plant opened in 2005 and provides work to over 200 area residents. This huge plant processes into cheese more than 2.3 billion pounds of milk every year.

Allsup's convenience store headquarters are situated within Clovis. This company provides a huge number of jobs and is the city's largest employer. Other main employers are the local Wal-Mart and Dillard's stores, together with many other smaller regional and national supermarket chains. Rail transport and operations have a lesser but still vital impact on the economy of Clovis. The financial and business requirements of the city are met by institutions like for example Wells Fargo, Bank of America and regional financial institutions.

Clovis has fought to keep the Cannon Air Force Base in operation throughout the years. The Committee of Fifty is a local lobby group established to keep Cannon AFB open. Their efforts resulted in a realignment of Cannon as a special operations base.
